Gossip Girl: How nice surprise!

Gossip Girl was a series that looked unlikely a priori, it seemed an attempt to translate 90210, known here as "Sense of Living" in one of those inexplicable name changes, which so often occur-topic you will talk other day, in Manhattan.

Well, as I said, the trouble institute of posh teenagers in Manhattan, did not seem too interesting a topic, in my case the days of "institution" are already pretty far.

Still, after watching the first four episodes, I decided to give a second chance in VO, because the dub is another that I thought were pretty bad, for he saw that the series could promise.

It turned out that the dubbing, as so often, he returned to take the blame for everything that seemed wrong with the series and I have not regretted at all, to give a second chance, while the first two seasons I have lasted a couple of weeks.

The series, based on some novels by Cecily von Ziegesar , takes its title from a character not revealed the "Gossip Girl", which defines itself as "The One and Only source Into the scandalous lifes of Manhattan's elite" which would be something like: The only true source of the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite.

This gossipy narrator acts and tells us all the gossip of an institute on the Upper East Side, the most posh of Manhattan.

As you can see the issue can not be silly, but the truth is that just hooking.

Although the scheme has enough similarities to 90210: two brothers in a strange environment, in principle, for them, as they are not as rich as his companions, 6 main characters, plus a pair of side to supplement his own institute; parents about "cool", but in this case have an enhanced role and although not married, keep a common past, I think Gossip is a much better in every respect.

In fact, I think it is much more similar to the movie "Cruel Intentions", which in turn was an adaptation of "Dangerous Liaisons", carried today, because the plots are much more complex and devious, that the flat soserías Brandon, Brenda and company.

I must say that is a carefully prepared series in almost every respect.

Visually it is very good. The setting is splendid, appearing always those big story, so typical of the rich in films set in New York (The Bonfire of the Vanities, Kidnapping, Crime Perfect ...).

The costumes are also very careful, being a real showcase, sure to delight any "Fashion Victim"

The soundtrack is present and in most cases, it fits perfectly with the scene.

All this, do not forget that is only the wrapping of the "candy" as justification for the view, but it also appears that the stories are always well interspersed, with excellent installation (as prime example chap 24 of T2, which combines the current frame, with a similar happens to a character 25 years ago, in a setting of 80). All subplots an episode just coming together, and fitting in the time necessary, clarifying what is necessary, and leaving open the suspense right to the next.

The characters, which develop in detail the other day, they deserve a separate post, well made ​​and are much more complex and polyhedral what at first seem.

They all have shameful secrets, which is discovering and publishing the website "Gossip Girl", a real judge who seeks to uncover all dirt to elevate or depose all these characters at will and whim.

The result is that the sum of the parts to give a greater whole than would be expected in principle, and make us forget the superficial theme of the series and we end up, at least in my case, engaging.

But in my opinion, I must say that the highlight of the series is its PACE, which is quite hard to find, even in very good series that, despite its high quality, slow pecan.

The pace of the series is very good, thanks to the perfect fit of characters, script, setting, music. Chapters, 40 minutes pass very quickly and does not saturate see two, three or even four in a row.

In the account of new technologies, especially mobile phones play a crucial role. Almost all the characters are addicted to mobile, which is a narrative element asset, used in all aspects: speaking, sending sms's; be permanently connected to the network (they are next-generation mobile); receive each update of "Gossip"; to compromising photos to be sent to Gossip for publication, such as media players.
