Milleniun III: The outcome of the saga
Mar 14
With Millenium III, "The Queen at the Palace of Air Currents," a title somewhat anticinematográfico ends the Millennium series. Although the series was meant to be up to 10 titles its author, the late Stieg Larsson, died shortly after giving this third installment.
The end of Millenium II left us to Lisbeth severely injured after being presumed dead, it was found, in extremis, by Blomkvist. This situation is resolved, practically in the credits. It will be the keynote of most of the movie, that is, the actions proceed at a pace, especially if you've read the book, a little fast.
To a certain extent is normal, since the novel, as I recall is around 900 pages, and much smudging is difficult to summarize in 140 minutes the film lasts.
Personally, I found the novel all the more dense, but also because I strove to read in a weekend. In this installment was easy to cut parts, such as the origin of all "Section", which aired the film in less than two minutes in the book are, at least seventy pages.
Even so, a feeling similar to the one I was with Millenium II, everything is too "caught with needles", and the plots are explained in a somewhat hasty. In fact, for you have not read the books can give you the feeling that they are light enough arguments, when in fact the opposite: dense plots and rich characters. For example in the novel there are a lot of characters in the movie, or do not appear, or do so obliquely, as most of the police team involved in the investigation.
In this sense, there are totally abused characters in film, like Erika, who has a whole story in the third part of the novel plot that disappears in the film. Also, her relationship with Michael is much simpler, in the novels she is married, but in turn has a relationship with Mikael.
But some of the film count. Visually it is very similar to the second, because apparently these two parts were filmed at a time, and initially were intended only to TV. In the end, and after the success of the first, they decided to film. The result on screen is very worthy. There is mounting lavish, but sober and effective.
In this film Mikael will be greater, as Lisbeth is recovering in the hospital and detained pending trial. This will have to try to prove his innocence, and has been the victim of a conspiracy at the highest level to protect a confidant of great interest to the "National Security".
Meanwhile, "the shadow authorities" shall make every effort to ensure that their research does not come to fruition, trying to eliminate witnesses who might incriminate him and trying to prove mental instability, and history-false-psychiatric indeed Lisbeth .
From here the story will focus on the efforts of good against evil, and tactics of each to achieve their ends.
All this, as I said, is developing fast enough to reach the final judgment of Lisbeth, from which all the rhythm, which hitherto has been quite rapid, slows down, rather, extending over the last forty minutes judicial process and closing.
At the end of the trilogy closes a somewhat abrupt, but this is not a flaw of the film, but as mentioned the result of the death of the author, before he could complete the series of novels that had raised.
In short, if you have seen the previous films is highly recommended and will surely enjoy. If you have read the series of novels, you may think has been lacking some depth, but this is something that usually happens when it comes to adaptations of books of this "size".
Rating: 6.5 (as Millenium II was 7 and this is worse)

Really, this trilogy has happened to me a curious thing. With everyone I talk I said that the third part is the best and that the former is the slowest and therefore the worst. I do not know what is your opinion (about the novels I have not seen the movies), but to me the first seems the most authentic, in the tradition of Swedish crime fiction. Namely, a small town with many old cold and hidden hatred. A disappearance, simple yet intractable leading to a dark family secret and an ending (at least for me) the most unexpected.
The second and third ... persecutions, the conspiratorial element and super powers and unlimited networking of Lisbeth Salander that make it a cross between James Bond, Rain Man and Erin Brockovich ....
Bad, very bad (and right in the style of smoker file X) and totally disinterested and untiring good in search of truth. The men of the novel if they are blond and Swedish pedigree bad. Women all good and the heroes are either Armenians or Jews or Iraqis living in Sweden.
I like Kurt Wallander, who incidentally has Swedish series of the BBC and what better (although I prefer the Swedish). Such pyrotechnics and both Apple computers inc. estomaga me.
Finally I have finished I, but if I had one quarter I would think a lot.
To me the first novel I liked a lot, but I think the second más.Es as true that the first mystery story is better, and that is the "black" of the three.
The second I think is somewhat broader: you plan Lisbeth in tourist and trying to make his first steps with more math in addition to the theme of his fortune and what he does when he arrives incognito to Sweden (which have been in the movies eaten). The plot is strong, but without reaching the levels of the third.
The third bored me, although perhaps indigestion (as I swallowed it in one weekend). Part of the "Section" I made it eternal. In the movie I missed the whole plot of Erika, who is the most abused in adaptation.
On the political side I had raised, but I think you're right and you will see too the "colors" to Larson, red confessed. Still, the "Section" believes in government right time is the time frame since the end coexist with both the right and the left, and they both assume, at least tacitly.
The main character is Swedish, and womanizer, perhaps what the author would have liked ...
Well I think as Martel (curiously). The first black and the most entertaining, the second a halftime to reach the third and last, somewhat watered down but better than the second.
THE right-wing government and other ... is that culture is always associated ¿? left and right is bad, conspiratorial and dictatorial. Well, I, I have not read the novels, I would have liked to know what makes Lisbeth when arriving in Sweden in the second novel ...
We go pa 'Zaragoza!
I do not understand is the episode in the Caribbean ... I see it totally disconnected from the plot. The hurricane, the false preacher Texan and his wife ... do not see it go.
I disagree with Rick, I as in "I put" the only environment ... we dive into the turbulent waters of the middle of the cold war in a country officially neutral but totally pro-Western and a percentage of the population fifth column willing to open the doors to the Soviets. In fact, it's about the only thing that keeps me hooked on the story waiting for the lie that people brown.
That said, I repeat that overall I am disappointed from the end of the first part where the series turns into an episode of 24.
Of joke between a security company, four computer geeks, an investigative journalist and his team dinamiten one of the darkest secrets of Sweden. I do not see the X-Files smoker taking two hundred pages to realize the threat ... you know, green light, and we look like an accident (you remember the principle of X-files movie? To what I mean) and the hospital?? Zalachenko killing and letting the other go scot-free??, science fiction dear friends.
Even the GAL was better mounted, orgies in puticlubs including road!. As I said in my first comment, Lisbeth = Neo (Matrix) + Bride of Bruce Lee + Rain Man and over with paste, which botito.
Well now, a chapter of suggestions. I understand that you have read that there is already a judgment on the P2P undersigned one by one all our thesis, for when the post of victory (partial and temporary but victory)?
