50 Dead Men, Memoirs of an IRA informer

April 05

Speaking of terrorism is rather complicated, especially when in our country are so many years suffering the indiscriminate violence of certain individuals. The film in question, is another one that tells the story of an IRA fighter that looks at the crossroads of fighting with his fellow IRA and exposed to jail or working for the British government as a mole at the expense of that discovered and after a long and painful torture kill him.

This is an English film, unknown to the general public but a little more about the life of the people who decided to abandon violence, or forced or conviction. As in Spain, is a film as historical fact, is based on the life of a mole in the IRA-documented us very little about this war (like here) and shows two opposite sides, the good (English ) and the bad very bad (the army of the IRA).

Based on the life of Martin McGartland, the film tells us how this guy decides to "betray" the IRA and pass information to the British, saving the 50 men's title.

As I said, these films greatly dislikes me. In our country only knows filmmaking about how bad they were "fascists" and the poor and unfortunate people who were the "red" during the Civil War and beyond. We only know that Franco killed anyone opposed to the regime (which happened), but nothing else happened in that whole historical cycle. In the case of Ireland, it is the same, never explained some history, what drives this army to fight in the streets against the British, what do the British in Ireland ... occurs only terrorists and English who die.

"50 Dead Men" suffers from this. We only see a character who makes his living selling stolen goods, which moves in the environment of the IRA and you have to decide whether to participate in terrorist activity or support the IRA to the English and live a better life.

Rating: 6.5

If you really want to learn some history of the IRA, its revolution, its doctrines and leaders, I advise you to read about Michael Collins , the film he has the same name, and " In the Name of the Father "you have below.
