Six Feet Under (Six Feet Under): A series of quality to take it easy

June 08

Six Feet Under is one of the legendary series of HBO, in theory the most prestigious chain on the subject, and also won a unanimous critical success, on the general public opinion and I have more questions about this unanimity .

His career, over five seasons, is full of nominations, both for actors and their writers, and awards: Emmys, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards (For more information follow this link to the Wiki

The series is a drama based on the story of a family whose business is somewhat "antitelevisivo" owns a funeral home. I do not know if it is very common in the USA, but not the first time I've seen in movies-remember My Girl, for example, that family housing is integrated into the seat of business.

Its narrative structure is curious and always starts the same way: at the beginning of the episode we witness a death across the series will see the most diverse forms: old age, illness, sudden deaths, accidents (some really stupid), murders, deaths violent ... These deaths serve as the basis of the specific plot of the episode, while there is another story, usually concerning the relations of the characters, which takes place in parallel.

The first episode will mark the development of the series, as the deceased is the owner of the business. This character will disappear away from a more or less recurrent, it always appears as a dead man to have conversations with the characters. This is relatively common, as many of the dead "talk" with the characters in a fantastic twist, which is one of the hallmarks of the series.

Regarding the cast, the series was a quarry for characters that players today are still very successful series. Thus, the older brother Nate, who has to change his life after the death of his father, is played by Peter Krause, who was later seen in "Dirty Sexy Money." His younger brother, David, Michael C. Hall, that is, nothing more and nothing less than "Dexter". Rachel Griffiths, Sarah in "Brothers & Sisters" also has a major role (Brenda) and their relationship, no relationship with Nate is one of the pillars of the series. In supporting roles are also relatively known as actors James Cromwell and Kathy Bates.

Other actors such as Lauren Ambrose (Claire) little sister, and bohemian Nate and David have not been as successful, although in my opinion deserve.

As for the characters they are overworked. Nate's older brother, who leaves the family because of problems with parental authority and must return, not being never at ease in the new role it plays and hitting, in principle, with his brother. David is a somewhat tortured character. He is the son "good" to be accepted by his brother. At the same time is a religious conservative and Gay, who has not left the closet, (This process takes place during the series). Brenda has an explosive temper that hits throughout the series with Nate, in a kind of "with you or without you" (a character somewhat accelerated, and often insane) and Ruth, the mother of the brothers Fisher is a person who has dedicated her life to her husband and children, and that after the death of one and the maturity of others who do not need, is all alone and disoriented.

Death, and everything that surrounds it, and each faces a very different, and relationships are the main themes of the series. Some say that, in fact, the loneliness in a city somewhat inhuman as Los Angeles, where the action is situated, is the theme. To me, after I see it so clear.

That itself is a good series, but extremely slow. I know people who could not move from the second season. To me admit that I took to finish. There is a series to watch "The Jerk", must be seen little by little, as if saturated. The quality is unquestionable, but not the typical series "easy" because the issue is not the most pleasant.

I guess enjoy it most will be those who like psychological series, in fact, this discipline is very much present (Brenda's parents are psychiatrist and psychoanalyst respectively, and this eventually reconduciéndose to this field). This is another field of art, since Claire is a student of fine arts, hence its bohemian and rebellious side, they want to experience all kinds of experiences.

What I do recommend if you continue to do it in its original version, because I think that is one of the worst examples of folded series I've ever seen. David sounds flat when you have a very serious voice, much more hysterical Brenda, the mother is tiresome (the same voice as the mother of "Family Guy" Claire fatal. In other words, a true absurdity that I believe justify the lack of success he had in Spain.

Of course, the ending is great. The last two episodes, but previously had to wait sixty (are 5 seasons HBO style, ie 12 episodes, lasting a little longer than usual 40 minutes) are very good and give a perfect seal.

In fact, without having seen the end yet another mythical, like The Sopranos, 'of which now stand at less than a season-is the highest close for a series I've ever seen.

With the song "Breath Me" by Sia, I have used in the video above (this time was used for the promotion of last season) are closed, in a masterly way all the characters, nothing to do with the much-discussed end in recent days: Lost. Not here, with grace and rhythm, the rhythm that is so often missing from the series, leaving no place just opened.

For which you want to save see the series here's the YouTube link to this final, but may not say much unless you know the series, yes that can serve those who would not get to finish it.
