Robin Hood: Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe brings us a different vision of the classic.

June 11

Robin Hood is one of the characters with more updates throughout the history of cinema. In fact, each time with one-or several-versions, which is a bit of everything-even a comedy of Mel Brooks' Robin Hood Men in Tights ", or a Disney cartoon with animals as protagonists; but quite common arguments between them.

However in the new version of Ridley Scott is given a new approach, probably because Scott has a certain prestige and copy a conventional version of Kevin Costner, which is that I'm closer generationally, for example-would have been too easy.

I, personally, this new approach seems to me pretty good. In addition, presents a more medieval "dirty" and less "friendly", which is more consistent with the time that other versions, not to mention other films-like hodgepodge of "The First Gentleman" in which we saw a Camelot Castle as Disneyland-so: a place to start for Ridley.

But before we digress let's focus a bit in history, that if you were to somehow be classified as a "prequel" of what has been done so far, because what it shows is how Robin becomes the hooded - " Hood "- banned by the law, but the paradigm of the struggle against injustices perpetrated by the powerful.

Robin will not be the noblest we have seen in other films, but a keeper of the troops of Richard "Lionheart", who returns home from the Crusades and that is destroying everything in its path. The character of this King is not as friendly as the other versions, but a warrior respected and feared by his men, who die in the heat of battle and whose death should be announced by his faithful servant Robert of Loxley.

However, this did not reach its destination as fall into an ambush, for, ironically, the King and hatched by a sort of double agent, Sir Godfrey, a confidant of John, the future King, but conspire together with the King of France against England.

As I think I've given enough spoiler, but only for the first twenty minutes, go ahead and the rest will speed up enough argument.

Robin (Crowe) is passed, to get safe to England, of Loxley, although the circumstances you will get to have to get more into your paper.

To fulfill the promise made to Loxley, Robin must announce the death of his wife, Marian, and his father. This will take you to have to somehow continue with the "sham"-remembering quite this part of the movie "Sommersby" - while you will discover something of their own origins, its motto has found the sword Loxley "Rise and rise again, until, lions Became Into lambs."

In all these adventures will accompany his comrades in the army, and taking the names of the characters "traditional" of the various films: "Little John" or Will Scarlet, and other as the "Friar Tuc", with a more belligerent and drunk than other films.

The cast is led by a pair of weight: Russell Crowe, who returns to form a great tandem with Ridley Scott, in his most physical from Gladiator. In fact to remember when cutting hair, nothing to see, and all comparisons are odious, with which Costner looked more concerned with covering their alopecia. Crowe makes a convincing character, violent when necessary and somewhat complex, as have forgotten some of its origins, which will be remembered, as is usual in R. Scott-through flashbacks. Cate Blanchett is Maid Marian, very natural, with an air reminiscent of her role as Galadriel. His character is much more active and warlike, even to the sword, than any of his predecessors in the role. Crowe chemistry with working and tension-attraction can be seen from the moment known

Among the heavyweights side as Max Von Sydow, who plays Sir Godfrey, father of Loxley, William Hurt, who plays a nobleman, who is torn between love of country and distrust that produces the new King, Kevin Durand (Little John in the movie) that Lost fans will remember for her role as fearsome mercenary in the service of Widmore, and Mark Strong (who actually saw Sherlock Holmes) and creates a terrible wrong.

As photography is a bit dark, cool tones predominating, and the setting, as I said, looking a little ugliness. The soundtrack accompanying a film, which can not escape the action component, with two very notable battles, one at the beginning and the end of the movie house brand, they do not have anything to envy to those of "Gladiator" or "The Kingdom of Heaven", also the same author.

As with all films there are several shots of archers with arrows as protagonists, not be surprising, I think it is almost all made up about it, always prove effective.

May eventually want to play too many topics: battles, political treachery, loyalty, betrayal, unity against tyranny, not slave-master submission ... and although the movie is long-about 130 min real, not make long-can be a crock.

I, personally, has convinced me, and I think is a good choice
